Knutange is located in the Fensch valley, in a catchment area with a population of 70,000 inhabitants. It is strategically located, just off the exit of the A30 motorway linking Metz to the Belgian and Luxembourg borders.

The Fensch valley, a former mining and steel-making area, is a place where rural life and industry go hand in hand. It is also home to the U4, which is the only blast furnace listed as an historic monument in France, as well as the Iron Mines Ecomuseum in Neufchef. However, the Fensch Valley remains a rural area, with almost 110 km of hiking trails and the V50 Voie Bleue cycle route linking the Val de Fensch to Luxembourg and Metz.

There is a wide range of accommodation available in the Knutange area, concentrated mainly along the Thionville-Amnéville axis, with plenty of capacity.
